Description

I am a private Collector from Rome, Italy and I have decided to sell the last success of the Coronet the pre-war Midget camera Cameo to this Auction. You are looking at a beautiful CORONET CAMEO with his leather case all in a great condition !

(A bit of History)... The Coronet Cameo Company's success with the pre-war Midget camera provided the impetus for it to launch the Cameo camera circa 1948. The camera was 2 x 1 x 1,1/4 inches in size and was made in moulded black Bakelite with alloy fittings. It produced a negative 13 x 18 mm. and sold for 17s 10 d . The Brish Journal Potographic Alkmanac of 1948 carried a brief review. "The Maker's emphasise, however, that the Cameo is not a toy , but is capable of taking pictures which can be enlarged up to 2,1/4 x 3, 1/4 inches. The camera is fitted with a fixed focus f.11 lens and has a shutter speed of 1/25 second. The Camera was available from May until November 1948for export only and than became avalable for the home market. It was still beign listed in July 1952.  It was one of the most popular & affordable subminiatures. The Camera was made by the Coronet Camera Company of Birmingham (England) . The CoronetCamera Co. was established around 1921 by Fredrick John Pettifer. Around 1925-1926 a 127 rollfilm camera was produced andby 1928 had found premises at 48Great Hampton Street, Birmingham . The value of the cameras reflects the rarity.

The Cameras Condition.....  The Shutter still fires as good as the day it was made and the rest of the little camera is also in great condition, with "NO CHIPS or CRACKS" anywhere. The Lens and Viewfinder glass elements are all clear and intact.

A Must addition to your collection.
